so i am sitting here at my house with my three nieces, eight months pregnant, as my sister-in-law is in the hospital giving birth - nearing 40 hours of labor and no sight of the finish line yet! let me just tell you - i haven't had any fears about labor, mellow these last eight months, i am in a panic now! i went to the hospital for a bit thinking i would be able to see the baby, instead i saw a woman in unbearable pain who wanted to kill her husband! i am so nervous! Just get the epidural? (Said cautiously, not questioning your SIL's choice.) [ Reply | More ]

that's agonizing... 40 hours is definitely a very long labor, so that probably won't happen to you... [ Reply | More ]

her experience isn't typical. your labor will more likely be between 12-14 hours [ Reply | More ]

I had a very long labor (55 hours) followed by a c-section. I had excellent pain management, and the worst part was the exhaustion. I was in such sorry state that I stayed in the hospital an extra day to recover! [ Reply | More ]
