I'm completely at a loss for words. I have had my heartbroken so many times this year trying to get my DD into a great school. Round 2 ding at Hunter/private school shutout/G&T shutout. It has been such an exhausting experience. The one bright thing I've been holding onto is that my gen ed school is pretty decent (though we wanted so much better for our girl) and her best friend from preschool is going there, so I've been trying to focus on DD and NOT my hurt and anger at the process. Well, find out today from DD that her friend is going to Anderson -- ANDERSON!!! I'm good friends with her mom and she never ever mentioned they were even taking the G&T test! I'm pretty sure she has said she doesn't "believe" in G&T. This is so out of the blue and random I have no idea what to think or do!!! [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I know you're just venting, but you really have to let it go. And, good for your friend. It's no reflection on your dd that her friend got into Anderson. What's your gen ed? My ds is in good gen ed, and he loves it, is doing great, learning a lot. [ Reply | More

ITA. Sorry, OP, sounds like you've lost perspective. If you're not happy with the local public school, do your kid a favor, move someplace in the burbs with decent schools -- she will be so thrilled to have a normal life, a backyard, etc. [ Reply | More

Be happy you have a decent Gen Ed. Many don't have that much. As for best friends from preschool, 5-year-olds make new friends very quickly. She'll do great. [ Reply | More

OK, I'm on too much, but there was a post a day or 2 ago from someone who claimed to be the mother of an Anderson dd who hadn't yet told the mom of her dd's best friend about it, and had listened to the mom talk about the application process but never told her that her dd was also applying. I agree with all the other posters that you need to let it go. On the other hand, knowing how stressful this process is, any good friend (or real friend, better put) would have been as up front about their intentions as you. It's weird that she didn't tell you her kid took the test. [ Reply | More

What district are you that you got SO from G&T?? What was your DD's score?? What district choices did you put down?? I know it must be difficult to hear about A and it is odd that friend did not mention it, but if you want a G&T be persistent and you could still get a slot over the summer (yes, I know there is no wait list but try and see what happens.)
