I am SAHM and DH generally works long hours (for only marginal pay, BTW). He has planned three separate short trips with his friends this summer, goes to baseball games several Saturday afternoons, and will want Sats free in the fall to go to football games. He always asks me in advance if it is okay, but it is really starting to upset me. I hate to say no to him and rob him of a good time, or deal with the resentment if I do, but I am feeling neglected and fed up. We have 3yo and 6mo. WWYD? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

carve out whatever time for yourself that will make it feel "fair" to you. [ Reply | More ]

Start planning your own trips/fun things and don't ask permission. Just let him know that it's your turn. [ Reply | More ]

Talk to him. That does seem excessive to me, but if he doesn't know it's upsetting you than you really can't blame him. [ Reply | More ]

I think it is excessive. I would start planning my own "me" time. Life is short and he shouldnt be the only one enjoying it!!! [ Reply | More ]

ITA. I agree that he should have down time, but so should you. You should have free Sats to yourself. You are a better woman than I, because I do "let" dh take a couple of guy trips a year, but would never go for three a summer. Don't fall into the trap of thinking that just because you don't work outside of the home means that you don't need the breaks as much as your DH. Staying home with kids can be hard and you'll be a better mother if you get some time away from them. (Can you not tell I'm a SAHM?) [ Reply | More ]

When do you hang out all together. I think that's too much for my comfort level. [ Reply | More ]

Does he take older dc to the games? At the very least he should do that to give you some break. [ Reply | More ]
