DH and I missed my sister's fiance's auf ruf for DH's best friend's 30th bday party. (who has auf ruf on Sat night?). Now sister is saying they may not make it to DS's bris. We have known for a while when DB is coming (scheduled) and we are not sure if it is a boy. Sister was supposed to be the godmother. Is this appropriate revenge for the auf ruf? in retrospect, DS's bris means more to me than DHs aufruf, but at the time, it was an important event. If op did not support her sister, i understand the sister not wanting to be there for her. Petty, but understandable, imo. Being a family means showing up for the events that matter [ Reply | More ]

She is being petty and childish, but you should have gone to your future BILs aufruf, even if DH went to the party. Family comes before friends, imo [ Reply | More ]

np - ask her if this is why she isn't coming to the bris. this is your child and her nephew. needs to grow up [ Reply | More ]

Seems a bit inappropriate for you to miss such a big thing in your sister's life for a bday party.... It's also inappropriate for her to retaliate in that way, but I think what you did was hurtful... [ Reply | More ]

Personally if you didn't support your sister I can understand her being upset. But if she is doing this as revenge without saying she was unhappy then I think it's pretty petty. [ Reply | More ]

ita - she can't expect to be Godmother if she isn't even turning up. I would try sorting this out before it causes long term family arguments. [ Reply | More ]

Did you apologize for missing the auf ruf? Did you know in advance that she really cared about it? Why on earth would you choose dh's bf over your own sister? [ Reply | More ]
