depends where you are in nyc? northern manhattan, you may be better off to CT or Long Island. West side, maybe head south to NJ. [ Reply | More ]

Drive past Jones Beach on the Robert Moses causeway through Captree State Park(it's all on the same long road). Pass Jones and Gilgo beaches until a small sign on your right for Cedar Beach. Make that right. It's a Babylon town beach and parking w/out a town permit is $10- well worth it for the gorgeous ocean , piping plover sanctuary, playground, shower and shelter for breaks and picnic if you like. 80 minutes from UWS.
