ds has 1st cold at 5 mo. runny nose has turned into awful cough. ped says no need to come in. any advice on hoe to make him feel better? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

aww.poor thing. DD got first one at 6mo. Ped said nasal spray to help clear out nose. And Baby Vicks Vapor rub on chest and behind ears - really seemed to help her. And lots of fluids. I guess Db isn't drinking straight water or juice yet, but if BFing, BF as often as DB wants including at night till better. I also put a blanket under head of mattress to elevate it a bit. DB's cough wasnt that bad though, I think I'd call ped and ask advice on what to do for that. [ Reply | More ]

I'm an Aromatherapist who provides care to moms and babies. I suggest that you buy a small bottle of lavender oil and place 2 to 3 drops in a humdifier and keep in baby's room. That's something natural you can do on your own. Also, if you breast feeding, eliminate dairy and sugar as they are mucuos-building agents. If you are open, you and baby can consult with me.
