Any advice on how to answer a four year old who asks "How did I get inside your belly" and "How am I part of daddy and part of you"? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

my dd asked me the first part of your question. I told her that women are born with eggs and when the mommy and daddy want to have dc, the egg grows into a baby. SHe was ok with that [ Reply | More ]

i like this reply. on the other hand, my 3 yo dd already knows that babies "come out the vagina," so it's probably not a far stretch that babies also go IN the vagina, if you will. i'll probably just tell it to her straight. i expect she'll think it's funny/strange more than anything else. I learned the facts of life at 4 when my mom was pregnant. It wasn't a big deal for me at all; we read a book ("The true story of how babies are made") and that was that. Four year olds aren't grossed out by that stuff yet--it's more like another weird part of the big world. [ Reply | More ]
