Dh is constantly worrying about money, even though we're comfortable. We both work ft but I make about 1/8th his salary, and because of his constant worrying I feel guilty when I spend OUR money (he always reiterates it is our money) on things for myself... how can we work through this? do you have a budget? we have a budget with money allotted for impulse purchases (it's not that much-- couple hundred a pay period) and it has alleviated anxiety for both of us about what we're spending money on. [ Reply | More

Delve very deeply into your actual financial situation. Use Quicken and document exactly how much you guys are spending and saving, what the actual risks to your financial situation are. What is the worst case scenario? Just denying his anxieties won't work, but exploring them and quantifying them, might. Also, you might learn something too. Maybe he's looking at the long term, and has some justifiable concerns. Its not always about today's cash flow. [ Reply | More
