It was great. I'm so impressed by Brady and PTA. I'm a little disappointed we didn't learn more about G&T program though(and figure out who will be in our DD's class next year so we could set up playdates over the summer), but I guess that's for another time. Much better than orientation we had been to at zoned school. Very little diversity, however. [ Reply | More

I think the relative lack of gen ed diversity at the orientation wasn't quite reflective of what will be the actual make up of the class. It's very likely that many local families of color who live in the neighborhood didn't come. They may have a sib there already or they couldn't take off from work. Also, there are always a few local gen ed registrants who just walk in over the summer or at the start of school. [ Reply | More

The gen ed classes at PS9 have really been diverse last couple of years. They used to be almost all minority kids but now there is actually a very good balance of all ethnicities there. [ Reply | More

I agree. That's why we enrolled our g&t kid into a gen ed school w/o a g&t program. He is very self-motivated. If he doesn't get enough challenges, I will address it with his teacher in the fall. [ Reply | More
