Do most GT K schools start the kids at age 5 or 6? If I want to apply DS to privat (ha) & GT do I do it at different years? Will be 4 in Sep [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

You should definitely look more broadly than just those two. Don't forget unzoned, charter, Special Music School, Hunter, lotteries, etc [ Reply | More

we're zoned for a decent school. We're 2 blocks away. Does that mean we're guaranteed to get into our zoned school or could we possibly get shut out? thanks for all the info [ Reply | More

In public school in NYC (this includes G&T) you enter the calendar year you turn 5 for K. For private school the cut off is Sept. 1 officially, but really it is more like June 30. Private school summer kid are the oldest, as a general rule [ Reply | More

A few private schools have cutoff dates later than Sept. 1 (e.g. Manhattan Country School and St. Ann's). For G&T, your child would start K in the year he turns 5. Public school cutoff in NYC is Dec. 31. [ Reply | More
