I think in the future the citywides in elementary will have a lot of only children. Seems like you'd be taking a big risk enrolling a child in a citywide when you have younger sibs to think about....same with district G&Ts but at least the scoring margin is wider. I know so many younger sibs that didn't make the 90 or 97 cutoff that they needed to get into sib's school [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

We thought about that when making the ranking decision - I honestly think that #1 is going to be quite smarter than #2 - but ultimately we decided to treat them individually. [ Reply | More ]

itta but with the caveat that if they do go to different schools the school philosphy should reflect the individual. [ Reply | More ]

the sibs will never take over a school. all the worry about sib policy is misplaced. [ Reply | More ]

I would be interested to compare the scores of first-borns or onlies with sequential kids. I have 3 kids & my recently flunked kid didn't have the focus as there are always 2 other kids around competing for attention. [ Reply | More ]

I was thinking the same. I would bet that firstborns and onlies did way better overall [ Reply | More ]

2 kids, both 99s on all tests, but older one is more outgoing, and people would think of him as being smarter. #2 is shy and less assertive. no one thinks of her as being the supersmart one, but her tests say otherwise. [ Reply | More ]

The DOE changes its policies every year. Anyone who relies on anything year to year is insane. [ Reply | More ]

Remember, they changed policy this year after the tests were given (95 to 90). Even when they say it is done, it isn't. still to play out this year is how they fill spots that were declined. [ Reply | More ]
