Anyone have kids in NEST's afterschool program? How is it in K, and is everyday too much? My dh could possibly pick ds up early once a week, but otherwise, he'd be there until 5PM or longer. Such a long day since they start at 8:15AM. I'm really going to miss ds when he goes to K. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

We're incoming K parents, too, and as much as I love the offerings and know that dd would love every one, I think that with nightly homework/reading logs, plus commute, dinner, bath, downtime, it would be impossible. I'm thinking Monday or Tuesday and Friday, since there's no weekend homework [ Reply | More ]

OP: That's my worry, too, but dh & I both work FT. As it is now, I work until 6PM. I'm going to have to see if I can change my hours to come in earlier and leave earlier. Not sure how the whole thing will work. We have a 3 minute walk to ds's school now, so we're able to leave at 8:55AM, and dh picks him up at 5PM. With NEST, we'll have to leave at some ungodly hour. I hate mornings. It's going to suck. [ Reply | More ]

Are you coming from Brooklyn? We're in Manhattan looking at a 7:20 bus pickup and a 3:50 bus dropoff (assuming the same times hold as last year). I'm planning to shift my hours to 8-3 to pick up from the bus, plus sign up for 2 afterschool activities a week, which dh would have to pick up from (a pretty horrendous commute home by subway, which is why I'd want to do it on homework-free nights) [ Reply | More ]

1st grade incoming mom here. I will have nanny p/u from school. So not into after school drama's. I get home from work at about 5:15-5:30 so it's only a couple of hours worth of childcare. Plus we can do playdates. [ Reply | More ]
