I have a 6 mos old ds I am nursing exclusively. I am not sleeping well. I am not as sweet with DH as I used to be (he works long hours at the office and I take care of home stuff exclusively, for now). In fact, I have occasional episodes of pure bitchery - well-founded sometimes but total overreactions. Were you this way, too? Is it the hormones or me? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

It's hormones and exhaustion. Have a sit down with dh and explain that you dont mean to be bitchy. Tell him it's hormones and that it's hard doing all of the home stuff. But make sure you say that you appreciate how hard he is working for the family as well. Ask him to be forgiving and understanding of the fact that this will get better over the next year or so. It's really, really hard to be an sahm with a new baby (and 6 mos is still new!). When mine was that small, I hired a sitter for one afternoon/week. Those 4 or 5 hours saved my sanity; I looked forward to them all week. Seriously, it's hard work and the lack of sleep is so debilitating. Can you have dh take the baby for half a day Saturday or Sunday? Leave a bottle of bm or formula and do something, anything frivolous and unproductive. Good luck, honey. It gets easier, I promise.
