At what age did your ds stop wearing a pullup to bed? Did you just do it cold turkey one nigth and let the accidents happen? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

children have to produce a certain amount of a hormone before they are capable of being dry throughout the night. if your ds is going in his sleep, taking off the pullup is not going to help him wake up. let him sleep in the pull up until he wakes up dry 5 - 7 nights in a row. [ Reply | More ]

I have never heard of this hormone you speak of - could you be more specific or point me to a link? [ Reply | More ]

ds was day and night trained simultaneously when he turned 3. DD was day-trained at 2.2, but not night-trained until almost 4 (she has a small bladder) [ Reply | More ]

when the kid is dry in the morning. it's a physiological process, not something that can be trained. range of normal is 2-8 yo. [ Reply | More ]

just recently stopped diapering 3.5yo DS at night. he was dry for 7 days in a row. only 1 accident so far - i think DH didn't make him go before bed AND gave him water. fortunately DH was there that night to help with the clean up. (i still had to get up and show him where we keep the sheets for toddler bed) [ Reply | More ]

happened all at once--day and night simultaneously. Ds was about 3 years, 2 months. An unofficial poll of friends with kids of the same age: Kids who get the day training early, seemed to take longer with the night stuff. Kids who were relatively late to potty train, like ds, seemed to get both at the same time. Completely anecdotal; have no idea if there is an validity to observation. [ Reply | More ]

you just wait for it to happen. #1 was day trained at 2.2yo and wore a pull up until about 3.5yo, #2 day trained at 2.5yo and is already dry all night. [ Reply | More ]
