My BF has been TTC for about 5 months now - she was very frustrated and upset in the beginning about her lack of success, but seems to have recently acquired a better perspective (though it may be a brave facade). I just found out that I'm pg on my first try. Any advice about how to ease my awkwardness when telling her? I want to share my happiness while still considering her feelings. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I had this same issue, although my BF had been trying for years and it took me 3 tries. We went out for dinner & I told her. She acted totally happy for me, although she may have been putting on a bit of an act to cover. I know she was genuinely happy, I just also know it had to hurt a little. Be gentle and not overly jumpy and crazy excited when you tell her. I also kept my pg complaints to a bare minimum when talking to her. Same w/ my dd complaints now. [ Reply | More

first, i would tell her over the phone and not in person in case she's a little upset. it will give her a chance to hide it from you and get off the phone quickly if need be. just remember that she's probably happy for you but unhappy for herself. [ Reply | More
