Back to work now for a month after #2 and still feel like I'm trying to understand everything from 10 feet under water. I just took on new responsibilities at work and I can't concentrate on anything, can't stay awake, can't be creative. I certainly can't keep up with the housework and don't have a lot of energy for my older DC, who just started a new preschool and is clingy. Will it ever settle down? I feel like I'm going to go nuts, and DH is tired of me being grumpy all the time. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

My job is the one with the health insurance and higher salary, so no choice at the moment with two in daycare. I'm fine with working in theory, it's just that in practice it's damn hard. [ Reply | More ]

oh i feel for you - i was like this almost 3 yrs ago. it gets better - really does. but the first 2 yrs after #2 it was tough. hang in there and dont be shy to ask people for help and hire help with cleaning - will make you feel more sane. [ Reply | More ]

It's mostly 50-50, but he's busy too and works a lot of nights/weekends. I'd complain about him not doing enough, but it seems like there's too much for both of us to do. [ Reply | More ]

Both are just now in daycare, but we've had a month of scattered babysitting and I've been trying to work from home with my husband and I splitting it up. The baby is right now in the living room with my husband while I try to work (obviously, it's not going well). And we pick up the other one in an hour. [ Reply | More ]

my advice would be to fish or cut bait. doing things halfway only makes things much harder for yourself. next thing i'd do would be to simplify as much as possible. think of the five easiest meals you can make that everyone would eat. post a menu on the fridge. then i'd make sure to lay everyone's clothing out for the week. including underwear, socks, etc. simplify and organize as much as you can. i had a really hard adjustment and if i had to go back, these are the things i'd do.
