Thinking about taking regular babysitter on vacation with us. How much do we pay for a week? We usually pay $15/hr? How much time off per day? Any other advice/parameters? No flames, please. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

How about offering her a free holiday and a couple of hundred $. I'd decide what hours you want and just ask if they would be prepared to do it (they might not want to/be able to). If you are going overseas passports/visas might have to be considered. [ Reply | More ]

I take my niece. it is way better and cheaper. Do you have any teenage family members. If not i can loan you a few. I have 10 cousins age 13-18 works out well for vacations. :) [ Reply | More ]

i wish i had family to bring, but this babysitter is the next best thing. she's wonderful. am pretty sure she can do it and needs the $$, just trying to figure out how much i'd need to pay. there doesn't seem to be a going rate for this sort of thing. [ Reply | More ]

when I did it in college (15 yrs ago) - I got about $100 a day - but I wasn't "on" all the time. Obviously, all my expenses were paid for on the trip, etc. [ Reply | More ]
