Spank a 2yo?! What is quiet time? - you want her to play by herself in the room? IMHO, way too early. [ Reply | More ]

No spanking for something like that! I have never spanked, don't think it's the worst response to major offenses (like running into the street, destroying something on purpose) but should be treated sort of like capital punishment if you believe in such a thing -- not for every little crime. And IMO 2 is still young to be made to spend a lot of time alone, how much time are we talking about? Why can't she do a quiet activity near you? [ Reply | More ]

are you trying to get her to nap and she won't stay in? obviously, spanking is not an option. [ Reply | More ]

i gate my 3yo ds's room if he refuses to stay in bed at bedtime. and when he was that age i probably would have done the same thing for naptime. if she's not napping but you are giving her a rest period, it may work better to bring some reading or bills to pay or something for you to do into her room and sit with her but don't play. to help her get used to the "quiet time" routine.
