repost. what's your opinion on getting need-based benefits if you can manage without it? something like financial aid even if you can pay the entire amount. or wic benefits even if you can really buy your own groceries. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

as a mom who gets financial aid for my dcs school, I can tell you that they really go through your financials and see if you really need it. Unless you have some way to stash money away...but I know with a hhi of 90k, no way we could pay 30k for each of our 2 dc [ Reply | More

I was a caseworker (many moons ago) with welfare and medicaid and it pissed me to high heaven when ppl came to get recertified for their benefits driving a new $$ car and wearing $$$ clothing and jewelry. I grew up in the ghetto and still live there so I knew many of the ppl coming into my office. I also knew so many ppl who really didn't need it collecting it.
