Returning to work suddenly next month and desperately seeking day care in Manhattan. I realize this is probably a pipe dream but dd is 2 1/2 and would benefit from preschool. Our apt. is on the market and she's not enrolled anywhere because I have no idea where we'll be living, looking in many hoods. So ideally, place to start looking for 3 days a week daycare would be near dh's work, east side from 12th-42nd st. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Just get a nanny and enroll dd is a few classes. IMO, nannies are more flexible (for sickness issues) and give dd more individualized attention. You can still enroll dd is classes to socialize. Don't panic, just start interviewing:) [ Reply | More ]

thanks for your suggestion. We have a part-time sitter who'll do three full days a week but I thought it would be nice to mix it up the other days and get my daughter out of the house into a structured program. [ Reply | More ]

try cads. IMHO it's the best daycare/preschool on the east side (it's a little higher up than you wanted, 60th street). They always seem to end up with a few families who move over the summer so there may be a last minute spot. [ Reply | More ]
