Just curious, who has been able to maintain friendships with other children from preschool after moving on. There are a couple of children that my DS gets along with really well but they are all going to new schools next year. Do you think they can/will maintain thier friendships? Anyone BTDT? You can try for a saturday playdate every other week or so. But, in all honesty - four year olds forget really quickly - and two years from now, they won't even remember their names. [ Reply | More ]

I totally disagree. My DD is still close with 2 girls from preschool -- and they are in Atlanta. You need to make an effort, and like the parents of course, but some kids really do form very strong attachments at this age. [ Reply | More ]

We've had preschool reunions over a 5 or 6 year period. It's a nice catch-up for parents and kids. [ Reply | More ]

I don't see how this is possible considering that the preschool was downtown, we live on the UES and kid will go to K on the UES. We will start fresh. [ Reply | More ]

Not BTDT yet, but I assume we'll stay in touch with at least some of the preschool families. Several of DD's friends have younger sibs around our younger one's age, so we will be connected to the preschool community for a few more years. [ Reply | More ]

dc has kept in touch with 4 kids from preschool-they are the ones with whom we wanted to stay in touch. we do playdates, take classes, get together regularly. one dc is moving out of the city this summer, so that will be tough, but if you want to do it, it can be done. conveniently, we stay in touch with the ones whose parents we very much like, which makes a difference [ Reply | More ]

This is my situation. We stayed close with the people we, as parents, liked. For #1, these were also the parents of her closest friends. I'm fond of only some of the parents of #2's closest friends, so I guess they are the ones we'll keep. But it has to be a two-way street. Since you aren't thrown together by convenience, you have to really plan for it. [ Reply | More ]

BTDT - in a word, no, not after K or 1st. But, 5th grade dd noticed a couple of kids from preschool at middle school test and remembered really liking them - hoping they end up at her school. [ Reply | More ]
