Congratulations to everyone who's finished with this crazy process. If you had registered your DC at your zoned school and have decided to take a G&T spot, please call your zoned public and "unregister" your child. This will help the school's administration w/their budgets and enrollment projections, as well as with class formation. Many thanks from a gen'l ed parent. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Yes, I did that today. I was dreading it because I was embarrassed for causing any kind of hassle, but they were appreciative that I called, probably because of all the reasons op posts [ Reply | More ]

Hey, I'm not even involved in this year's process, and DC isn't in zoned school, but yes, notifying zoned school that you won't be attending is the right thing to do... in fact it is the LEAST you can do if you care at all about your neighbors. Your neighborhood school needs to make realistic plans for sept, and the DOE really screwed up this year, they are way late, and the schools need our prompt replies to help them plan for next years' students as best they can, especially given budget cuts. I wish people would take a sec to look at the big pic beyond where your DC is at this moment in time, public or private, all schools are in the business of educating our kids! [ Reply | More ]
