any thoughts on when age comes into play as far as conceiving? i am 32 but do not plan to start a family until a few years from now. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

^^btw, OP, I thought waiting was the right thing for me - got to get my partying, drinking, traveling, etc. out of my system - but after having db, i honestly wished i started having a family earlier so that I could have more than just a coupla kids! hate to say it but all those stories about old eggs and it is harder to conceive the longer you wait are true. each person is different though. And there are women who can conceive easily after 35. But don't let the Holywood moms fool you. Half those women have used some assistance from shots to donor eggs. Start when you are ready to have a baby as they change your life but if you are in your 30's and you have ttc for 6 months with no luck I say get thee to a fertility specialist. There is lots that can eb done before IVF. Just don't wait too long as they stakes get higher. [ Reply | More

After 40 you should be concerned, not only about conceiving. Statistics show higher chances of birth defects. [ Reply | More
