Is it reasonable to run down to the laundry room (in the basement of the apartment building, we live on the 1st floor) when the kids are sleeping in the apartment if nobody else is there? Entire trip takes ~5 minutes. We disagree on this. tia. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

ths is a tough one. in a house its ok to leave kids sleeping on top floor and run to bsmt, but in bldg, you're actually leaving your home [ Reply | More ]

I walk my dog on a leash outside my house while my kids sleep. I can see the front door the whole time but would have no clue if someone came in the back. I, seriously, don't think it's the worst thing in the world. [ Reply | More ]

I don't think its reasonable, no. You are technically leaving your home. [ Reply | More ]

i've done this--i always take my cell phone with me and hurry back. but my kids are good sleepers--once they're down, they don't get up. and, worst case, one of them would be crying for 5min tops. [ Reply | More ]

Take the stairs and baby monitor if you can. My laundry is on my floor and I always go when dd is napping, one flight is not a difference, imo. [ Reply | More ]

in my apartment bldg - true story, mother got STUCK in elevator and 5yo was asleep in apt. She COMPLETELY FREAKED OUT and was screaming thru the elevator doors. I felt so bad for her. [ Reply | More ]

I've done it. Also taken the dog out to the curb at night if DH is working late. Call the social workers... [ Reply | More ]

depends on the age. i did it with dd when she was less than a year. after that, i was too fearful she'd climb out of crib or otherwise get into trouble. [ Reply | More ]
