hi, looking for some possible reassurances here. just had a really tough amnio - the baby kept moving, so the doctor (who is extremely well-regarded and has done thousands of these procedures) had to really dig around with the needle. it was extremely painful, but more than that, it felt so dangerous, so scary. now i'm terrified i'm going to miscarry. i had an amnio with my second child and it was a walk in the park, a straight shot, so i was shocked at how much this hurt and how long it took for the dr. to get what he needed. he said all is well, but i'm terrified. anyone btdt? thanks for listening. np: the risk isn't that high especially when you go to someone who is very experienced in it. I wouldn't have it any other way. I needed to know if something was wrong esp that I'm 40 [ Reply | More

i am also nearly 40 and needed to be sure everything is fine. my doc's personal rate of amino resulting in misscarage is one in 400. that's why i've gone to him, for two of my kids. (i had my first when i was younger and didn't need an amnio.) [ Reply | More

just take it easy for the next 2-3 days. My first amnio hurt like hell and I was cramping. I took it easy and didn't do anything to exert myself even though I had another dc at home. Last month I had another amnio and it hurt less but still cramping. I also took it easy with 2 kids at home. Just think + and take it easy. [ Reply | More
