Non NYCer who wishes she lived in NYC for this reason: it seems perfectly acceptable to eat out a lot there. In my burb, everyone is so proud of what they cook and really look down on me for how often we eat out. Our kids eat fairly eclecticly - lots of ethnic food - so it's not like they're eating chicken nuggets 5 days a week. But the fact that I'd rather spend my $ on restaurants rather than a maid or yard service somehow sets me apart. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

not to me you wouldn't. I'm a great cook but as long as you are feeding your family well I would commend you for putting your money where your mouth is! [ Reply | More ]

thanks- too bad you don't live nearby! i'm not even a bad cook. i just don't cook healthy foods as well as i do comfort, wintry foods so we eat out a lot in the summer. only one out of 3 kids eat salad as an entree so i can't fall back on that all the time. [ Reply | More ]
