So now we need to get out of our pvt school contract since we want to send our DD to G&T. Any suggestions? Should we go with the straight truth? What do you think the results will be. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Of course you should go with the straight truth. Lying never helps. You'll have to pay whatever the contract requires you to pay. End of story. Which G&T by the way? [ Reply | More ]

LL vs. 3rd tier pvt. Impressed with visits to LL, know parents who RAVE about it, friend of a friend (very senior DOE person) says the new principal is amazing, probably leaving the city before 7th grade. [ Reply | More ]

They're expecting some movement. If you want to be a bit ballsy, you can ask if they'd be willing to consider your deposit to date a "contribution" so that you can get the write-off. (These are the types of calls I have dh make for me :) ) [ Reply | More ]

btdt. don't need school's ok to characterize as charitable donation, as long as is to a qualifying institution and you receive no benefits from the donation. [ Reply | More ]

I was told the opposite - if the school does not report it as a donation, IRS does not look at it as a donation. [ Reply | More ]

Are you losing the full year or just the deposit? [ Reply | More ]

That is a question. If held to the contract then the full year, but have only paid the deposit. I hope they can fill the spot (they still have a large w/l) and let me off. [ Reply | More ]
