Move him into a bed. That's what we did at 16 months when ds flipped himself out of his crib. Worked out fine. My younger kid stayed happily in his crib until 3, however. [ Reply | More ]

Well, it took him a long time to realize that he could get out of the bed himself, but then we just kept walking him back to bed, quietly, and he stayed. [ Reply | More ]

you put a gate on his door until he can climb over the gate. at that point you then threaten to close the door unless he stays in his bed or you tell him to go to bed without any kind interaction. tough, but it works and it's for their benefit that they learn to fall asleep and stay in their own bed. A co-worker of mine put a mosquito net over his ds crib. The kid couldn't figure out how to take it off to get out of the crib so that kept him in. [ Reply | More ]

I never understood why this is a problem. My kids climbed in and out of their cribs and did it without hurting themselves or others. It's just a phase [ Reply | More ]

he hasn't hurt himself so far. But he can open his door (and the front door - we triple lock it now) and might get out and climb on table, counters, etc. [ Reply | More ]
