If Anderson and PS9 are both filled with all 99s, and the whole point of a G&T program is to ensure you have great peer group - what really is the difference between the two schools, other than Anderson goes through middle school? Really - if the teachers find the PS9 class can accelerate as a group - won't they accelerate the curriculum? If Anderson finds as a group it is too accelerated, won't they tailor it appropriately? What else could the difference possibly be? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Because all the Anderson parents are this entitled group because they got chosen first in the lottery. [ Reply | More ]

np - Too late. Since this past admissions season, I've noticed that on UB, there are more crazy PS 9 posters than there are Anderson ones. But of course, they always pick on the Anderson posters. [ Reply | More ]

I find that parents of most young children - all over NYC are entitled. Just go to a restaurant or the movies or any playground and you can see that. They're also fresh-mouthed and ill-mannered. Anderson families have always seemed really, really happy at their luck. [ Reply | More ]

That would be a shame. Anderson's been around for 20 years doing its thing really successfully. If the DOE messes around with it and they have to change things not because the principal and teachers want to, but because they have to - it would be a shame. [ Reply | More ]

Filled with kids who got 99 on the Olsat, which can be easily prepped for....not quite like Hunter which uses the SB. These kids are not necessarily that smart, they come from educated parents who navigated the system. There is no need for accelerating beyond keeping up with the private schools which accelerate by a year (like Anderson). [ Reply | More ]

Anderson kids could come from all over the city. PS 9 would only be from district 3 [ Reply | More ]

A difference would be grade size - 2 classes per grade for Anderson vs 1 for PS 9 G&T. Also, Anderson's entire school is G&T. [ Reply | More ]
