How old was your ds when he was potty trained? And when did you start? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

3 seemed to be when most people said they had success, including ped. We talked about it for a month or so before his birthday - "You're turning 3 soon, we'll buy you some cool underpants and say goodbye to diapers" [ Reply | More ]

3. Took about two weeks, never had an accident and he learned for both day and night at the same time. Easy as pie. I got lucky (and waited until he was ready) [ Reply | More ]

Let him watch a video (Bear in the big blue house). Had a potty ring and a potty chair. Gave him a book (that was what he was into) everytime he pooped in potty. No prize for pee. Let him get up first thing in the morning and pee with daddy (he LOVED that). And just make it very matter of fact. No big deal. [ Reply | More ]

and left bathroom door open when dh and I went all the time. And we would make a comment like, I have to go potty and then go - never minded if he came in and saw us. [ Reply | More ]

DS was trained for pooping at 2.5 years, he initiated himself and pretty much never pooped in his diaper since. The peeing took a little longer, I think because his diapers/pull ups were so absorbent it really didn't bother him to be wet; it wasn't until we decided to bite the bullet and have him wear underwear fulltime -- and deal with the inevitable accidents -- at about 2 years 9 months that he finally learned to control his peeing. Still, all in all, pretty early for a boy and relatively painless, we feel VERY lucky. [ Reply | More ]
