I'm being completely stupid here, but I'm so sick of people telling me how "huge" my 3yo dd is. My dh is 6'6", of course she is going to be tall. I would never tell someone that their child was a shrimp. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

is it the word huge that is bugging you? If they said she is so big would that be the same? I have a peewee and lots of people comment on how tiny she is. Doesn't bother me. [ Reply | More ]

I get this too- 3 yo dd is 95th percentile for height, and ped said if she continues at this rate she'll be 6' when she's an adult. But it's not the height comments that bother me so much as the "wow, she's so skinny." She's not skinny- she's 50th percentile for weight, but she must look skinnier because she's tall? Anyway, I'm there with you :) People just have to have something to say, I guess [ Reply | More ]

why does this bother you? My older dd is tall and ppl always couldn't believe how tall she was. Never bothered me. Now my #2 dd is petite and ppl say all the time how petite she is. Doesn't bother me either. Unless someone was being nasty, I wouldn't let it bother [ Reply | More ]

You're right. I guess I'm being thin-skinned today. I just get tired of the tone that seems to imply that she's some sort of freak baby. [ Reply | More ]

well if the tone is harsh and negative then I could see you getting annoyed. I got more of the OMG she's huge or so tall for her age. I loved it..I'm short 5'4 and glad she will taller than me (I hope) [ Reply | More ]

I know what you mean. Both of my kids are "huge" as well. People seem to think it's a compliment. [ Reply | More ]

np: I'm 6'2" and have 2 boys now, comments about them don't really bother me, but now pg with a girl and I'm worried I'll be more sensitive about it with her because of the endless teasing I endured as a kid. [ Reply | More ]

as someone whose child is a shrimp, rest assured people make comments to us as well. [ Reply | More ]

I was going to say...I get it all the time. My kiddo is 5th percentile height, weight, and head measurement. She's healthy, she's just little. And no, she's not a dwarf, she's JUST LITTLE. I have learned not to make size judgements. I know it can be annoying. [ Reply | More ]
