Is it weird to keep a few pieces of clothing that belonged to a close loved one who has recently passed away? I kept a few sweaters of my mom, and a friend told me that she thought it was really creepy that I did it and that I haven't grieved properly. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

That's insane. Of course you should keep whatever you want. As the time passes & it's harder to conjure up a mental image of the beloved one, these objects will be even more precious. [ Reply | More ]

Ugh! FWIW, I'm a writer and I love to wear my mother's sweaters when I am suffering a bought of writer's block. Do what makes you feel comfortable. Something tells me that your friend hasn't lost her mother yet. [ Reply | More ]

that's ridiculous. of course it's okay to keep her sweaters as a tangible reminder of her. unless you're not telling us the whole story, your friend is wrong. [ Reply | More ]

your friend sounds like a judgmental ass. There is nothing wrong with keeping pcs of clothing from a loved one. [ Reply | More ]

your friend has probably never lost someone close to her. You can't know what it's like until you have been through it. Keep what you want as long as it makes you feel better. Sorry for your loss [ Reply | More ]

Bizarre. Of course it's normal to keep things like that. My mom held on to a sweater of my grandma's and didn't even put it away until her scent faded from it. I still have some of her things (jewelry, candy dish, etc) and love using them as a reminder of her. [ Reply | More ]

grieving doesn't mean letting go of all reminders of the past. Your friend is the one that seems a bit creepy to me. [ Reply | More ]
