Why in 2008, is there still such a stigma about mental health issues? Even problems like depression and anxiety are often met with stunned silence or shock. It's really hurtful and I feel like people are judging me w/o really knowing. It's no fun knowing that people are wondering what you *MIGHT DO*. ugh [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

It's not like I walk up to someone and say, "Hi, I'm depressed and anxious", but when you are building a relationship, it comes up at some point. [ Reply | More ]

I don't walk up to people and say, "Hi, I'm depressed and anxious", but it comes up sometimes w/ acquaintances and when building relationships. For example, I can't tolerate large crowds. Should I always have to make up a reason why I avoid them? [ Reply | More ]

Because most people don't want to talk about something so personal. They don't know what to say, much like when someone dies. I wouldn't dwell on others' reactions, it seems to get you angry and resentful and nothing good will come of that. [ Reply | More ]

so much judgment-like there is something you can do about this. it is slowly changing (mental health parity act), but most people think it is just about snapping out of it (whether it is depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, etc) [ Reply | More ]
