DH and I are moving from Helena, Montana to New York and I am kinda worried. I mean, there are so many people in New York and I know that I'll be mugged daily. What is the best way I can avoid daily muggings? Also, how do I make sure cab drivers don't beat me up? Any advice would be really helpful. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Crime rates in Manhattan are very low. I've lived here for 10 years and never been mugged. I'm incredibly offended not just by your ignorance but by the medias perpetuations (CSI-NYC, Law and Order...) that Manhattan is dangerous. The only piece of advice I give out of towners is that there is always safety in numbers, so at night stay in busy places with lots of people. Oh, and careful about cabs as they are known for luring innocent white Montanese into their cabs and selling them into slavery...And if you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you. [ Reply | More
