Help, please! Bedtime has become absolutely miserable b/c 2 yo dd refuses to brush her teeth. Am all out of tactics -- need some suggestions, pls. TIA! [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

as a mom of a 20 month old who has yellow teeth (!!), I feel your pain. she won't let us near them. but my ped is not worried and says it's better not to get into a power struggle. sometimes we "brush" her knee, elbow, eyebrow, etc. to be funny and then try teeth. [ Reply | More

I bought my 2 yo several toothbrushes including a kiddie electric toothbrush. It is s trubggle but I can often get her to brush by lettin gher pick the toothbrush and she likes the electric one (recommended by my dentist) [ Reply | More

Have you tried the electric toothbrushes with little cartoon characters on them? We wait until db is in his bath and use the electric toothbrush to brush his teeth. He loves it! [ Reply | More

pretend to be elmo/other character she likes and brush her teeth for her - or do yours (or "elmo's") with her. let her pick out a special toothbrush and/or toothpaste. tell her to open her mouth big like she's eating an elephant/lion/etc. sing a song (we sing, to the song of row row row your boat "brush brush brush your teeth, brush them twice a day, then healthy and strong your teeth will stay.") or give up for now - ped dentist told me its not that big a deal. good luck.
