Any thoughts on Brooklyn New School? Why do kids there all seem to apply to other middle schools, rather than their own BCS? Do they get into good middle schools? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

On my tour last year I asked the kid why they were leaving for middle school and she said b/c she had a chance to go to a really good middle school. She seemed like a bright kid! I don't think the New School Middle school is quite there yet. [ Reply | More

BCS is a fine middle school, but it can't compare with other District 15 schools such as MS 51 and Math and Science. Since BNS's enrollment used to be solely District 15, families would opt for the more impressive schools. With boroughwide enrolled at BNS starting this year, I bet you'll start to see more BNS staying on because their home districts lack decent middle schools. [ Reply | More
