my just turned 3yr does not know all her letters. she can recognize`about half only. she is simply noy that interested. i have not been pushing but should i start? btw, she is advanced in other areas esp speech so i am not worried bour delays so much. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Ummm, I feel like I'm missing something here...she shouldn't know her letters yet--unless she's some sort of genius. Seriously, this is an age that they should be learning about stories, enjoying them, holding books properly, turning pages, anticipating events. Learning about print and letters comes later-at a more age-appropriate time. Pushing will not help. They learn when they are ready. Those letters do not "mean" anything to them at this point. They are basically meaningless symbols. This is a process-and letters on their own at age three are basically meaningless shapes. [ Reply | More ]
