I am a freelancer and want to offer my services to DC's private school (we're FA). Is there such a thing as a tax write-off for me? Or can the school lower our tuition by that margin? Clueless here. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

What kind of services? I've never heard of tuition reduction for voluntary services, nor any kind of tax write-off, though I can see that more, I guess. Volunteering at a non-profit organization. But you'll have to get the school to go along with that. [ Reply | More ]

IRS does not allow a tax write off for volunteer time (although transport costs to certain volunteer jobs/donations maybe deductible). You could ask the school if they hire anyone in yor specialty and see what comes of that. [ Reply | More ]
