When do you start looking for a preschool? What age should the db be before you start applying? (Spare me the "at conception" answer please.) [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

the fall before you want dc to attend. IPS has a creche program for the younger kids, but most of the schools require dc to be about 2.6, you will have to check with schools directly. [ Reply | More

this is correct. and don't bother with schools that are more than about 15 blocks from where you live. the last thing you want to be doing on a bleary January morning is dragging a miserable 3 y/o on a rush-hour bus or subway. there is no school, anywhere, that is worth that (not even the "top tier"). do your research over the spring/summer, but the process doesn't start until Sept. of the year before you want DC to start. [ Reply | More
