I just took the bottle away from my 15 month old ds 3 days ago and he has completely refuse to take any milk from a cup. He drinks water from a cup beautifully. Once he tastes the milk though, he pushes the cup away. I feel terrible because he keeps asking for his "bot bot" and is very frustrated. I stopped based on my peds STRONG recommendation. However, I am worried because he si in the 5th percentile for weight and he is not a big eater. Any advice?? tia [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Be strong and he'll come around, there's a reason your ped said to stop the bottle. [ Reply | More ]

op-i know. I am just wondering if it is too soon to give up the bottle if he wont take any from a cup. A friend with older children said that when she transitioned them to a cup they never took milk again. I just feel so badly. [ Reply | More ]

Kids are incredibly flexible, and even if he's not into milk anymore it's not the end of the world. My ped actually advised us to cut back on milk since ds eats so much yogurt and cheese. Could you try chocolate milk in the cut? Maybe that would sell him on the cup, and eventually you could mix the choc with reg milk and get back to reg milk that way. [ Reply | More ]
