I don't know why people are suprised about results. We have known there were about 900 kids over 97 and broken down by district. For district 3, we knew PS9 offered only 1 class this year and after lowering the bar for sibs to 90, it would have been very hard to get PS9 or 166 unless you had a 99. Not all 98's or 97's had spots at 166. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I have seen both a 97 and 96 non-sibs report in for 166. [ Reply | More ]

There were 157 kids who got 97+ from D3. 166 offers 2 classes and 163 offers 2 classes and 9 offers 1 class. I don't think Anderson accepted primarily D3 kids, so something's weird. [ Reply | More ]

You are assuming that every child with a 97+ applied or was willing to accept all of those choices. [ Reply | More ]

No, but most people would have applied (even if only to A or PS9 or whatever). People here posted not bec they will accept but posted to show what they got. [ Reply | More ]

There is NO way Anderson is filled with more than 1/2 kids made of D3 kids. [ Reply | More ]

Anderson, NEST and TAG are citywide schools so it takes kids from ALL NY districts, so Anderson got 99's from all over the 5 boroughs if those families who got early picks in the random 99% lottery first choiced Anderson. In other words Anderson will have 99's from ALL districts not just D3...that's where a lot of the seats went. [ Reply | More ]

Right, but proportionately D3 has one of the largest number of 97s (and probably 99s) thus it will proportionately send more to Anderson than other districts (even though D2 has more 97+ it is likely that some downtown moms may have chosen Nest as a first choice). Thus I would gamble and say once the class is put together there will be more kids from D3 than any other district [ Reply | More ]

Anderson offers 2 classes. Even if 1 class is only made of D3 kids, D3 still has 130 kids over 97+. PS9+PS166+PS163 (even if assuming zero sib seats)=100 seats. Assuming 25/class. So, that leaves 30 kids above 97 not getting any of those G&Ts. Unless you think these kids ranked 145/191/185 before 9/166/163. [ Reply | More ]

If 96 kid got 166 and 95 kid got 163, that must mean a lot of kids who got 97+ from D3 took olsat just to be safe in case of shut out from privates. I wonder how many are going private who took olsat. 50? [ Reply | More ]

You are sooooo mistaken! There are plenty of high scoring UMC families who can not swing the cost of private school. [ Reply | More ]

Then how can nonsib 96 can get 166 when there were 157 kids who got 97+ in D3? [ Reply | More ]

yes, but OLSAT was offered before private results came out and parents for private were warned that this was the "worst year ever" by PSDs. I think a lot took it who didn't end up needing it [ Reply | More ]

Citywide poster from above- even if D3 has the largest # who made cut off it still came down to the luck of the draw of the 99's... from ALL the districts. [ Reply | More ]
