I tutor a 1st grade boy and girl. Would like to give them end of year gifts. Bought each a book but would like to give them something fun and educational too (a game or toy). Any ideas? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

OP: for the snarky one up above, I am not myself the mother of a 6 year old so I was just looking for ideas from those who might know what would make a 1st (going on 2nd) grader really happy. I bought them two books each already but I know no one is home reading to theses kids so I want to give something else along with the books that is sort of an independent educational activity. To responder below, Kid's Suduko might be good. Thank you! [ Reply | More ]

You are welcome...there are some sets with lots of blocks at good prices on Amazon. My dds (now 9 and 6) really enjoy playing with the Legos and do so in a variety of ways: sorting by color and size, building matching buildings that look like rainbows, making little villaes and people, making "magic wands."
