I went to public elementary school in Flushing, Queens, and I remember the teachers there being so dedicated and wonderful. I can't recall a single teacher in my junior high and high school in New Jersey (a good school district) who seemed enthusiastic or encouraging. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

We are noticing the same thing after moving to NJ - it's just another job for people here. BUT we didn't go through middle and high school in NY, where I hear from friends the detached teachers are much harder to avoid. I think elementary school teachers in NYC are a different breed.
