Anyone on at this hour in NY willing to talk schools? Really conflicted between 166G&T (now really reconsidering the racial segregation) and MSC. Those are our two choices. Prefer peer group and academic rigor of 166, but hate the segregation and liked the overall school feel at MSC but worry about the academics and it being maybe too unstructured for my DC... I know smart, caring people who love both schools. But the ones at MSC worry about academics and the ones at 166 do not. My dc applied to high school this year...many kids we know from 166 (my dc attended another UWS public) are headed to Specialized HS's, after spending middle school at Delta. And now that Delta's admissions test really counts (it used to be a formality) and the city is putting it's fingers into Middle School admissions, I'd go with 166. The better investment for the long haul. Work to improve what you don't like about the school...it'll be possible because you won't be running your kid around for extra academic enrichment.
