It's statistically impossible for every child referred to here as "highly," "profoundly" or "truly" gifted to actually be any of those. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Not necessarily. The numbers you'd expect to find in a given population, based on the normal distribution chart of IQ scores, is hypothetical. But when researchers have done studies by testing actual populations they have had to acknowledge that they find more people in the upper ranges than should be there. For instance, look at http://www.hoagiesgifted.org/private_pg.htm and scroll down to the quote from Halbert Robinson's study. And I know there have been others since that one where they've found the same phenomenon. [ Reply | More ]

You do know that not everyone is talking about their to-be-kindergarteners, right? That some are talking about their older children. [ Reply | More ]

totally agree. Did you see the polls EVERY kid scored 99-95. Either every kid is brilliant, the test is whacked or UB has the most brilliant childen in the world. [ Reply | More ]

#1, Like the OR above you said, not everyone here is talking about their dc entering K. Some of us have older dc. #2, Google "sampling bias." People whose dc didn't get those scores are less likely to post about it, and the ones whose dc did score that high post repeatedly. [ Reply | More ]
