Do they figure it out though... I feel like if I leave them one will end up hurting the other and someone crying... [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

But is that really so bad? They need to learn to work out stuff themselves. [ Reply | More ]

I really don't want them to be violent. I can't bare the thought of them hitting each other and just scrapping and grabbing... Do yours continue to do that if you leave them to it. Doesn't it escalate? [ Reply | More ]

No, it rarely escalates. They know that if they don't stop it in a reasonable time, I'll stop it for them - and they'd rather just go back to playing instead of being separated. [ Reply | More ]

They are 6 and 2. It's the little guy who starts things. The older one won't hit, he's afraid of really hurting him, but he'll push him out of the way or wrest a toy away, etc. [ Reply | More ]

Mine are 4 and 2 - girl is oldest. Usually little one who starts to. He will grab or hit & 4 year old just starts whining at him. I almost can't bare the whining more than anything else. Trying to concentrate on getting her to express in words what she is upset about and how to say it to him. They have always been so sweet together -just suddenly seems to be a tricky age mix. I get how annoying the older one can be - even my 6yo whines about this. I told him he can grab a toy back, and physically stop his brother from hitting or whatever. They are getting better about it, I think because they are getting less attention from it (for a while, I was getting involved each time). [ Reply | More ]
