I know a gen ed parent at 166 who is VERY involved. The gen ed kids aren't all from the projects. It's also an affluent area and not every white kid can be in G&T. [ Reply | More

We are a 98 ds thrilled to get 166! I think the school is going to be truly fabulous next year with all of these high-scoring kids. The kids will all challenge and help each other and the smarter the peer group the faster the teachers will be able to teach them. [ Reply | More

actually ps9 and anderson are very very similar in elementary years. the difference is the MS, except for acceleration in math truth is many of the ps9 kids are doing math a couple of years ahead unofficially. [ Reply | More

OP: NO. I got my info from tour, parents, Inside schools, DOE site, preschool director AND UB. And IMO, principal at 166 is an ass, school is average and curriculum is full of content my DD has already mastered. I did my homework. Still think it's better than Gen Ed or TAG so that's where we are stuck. Depressed because I loved A and 9 and wanted my kid there. [ Reply | More

Curriculum in ALL G&T is the *same* as Gen Ed. There is the chance for enrichment should the students master the content faster. The difference is Anderson - there is non whatsoever, curriculum-wise, b/w 9 and 166. Nice try. And your kid won't be bored in K. No mater how "gifted" she may be. We toured every G&T and there is no difference in the work product generated by the students b/w Gen Ed and G&T in K and 1sy grade in 9 and 166. [ Reply | More

I understand why you are depressed. This whole process has taken up a year (at least) of our lives. We have been waiting so long for the results and to have a scored a 99 gets ones hope up for a city wide or at least your first choice district since they could not have done better on this particular test. Of course the G&T is a fine program and I am sure you will find many wonderful things about it but you are also allowed to be sad that you did not get your first or second choice. The fact that there was only one class being offered at PS9 really made this a difficult year for those who live in D3 to get 9 or even 166 or 163 let alone Anderson.
