Is anyone worried about what the incoming K class at NEST or Anderson will look like given the line from the DOE that they were not taking race or gender into consideration at all? Only going by the numbers? I really don't want my dd going to school with only white kids. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

OP: i didn't say that. i'm sure a lot of non-white kids got 99. but since not all 99s are getting in to A or N, statistically it's a crapshoot. no idea what the racial diversity is in the 99 group, but given the overall results of the OLSAT and looking at the districts that got screwed vs those with high numbers of qualifying kids, I'm betting it's safe to say there are way more white kids in the 97 and up group than nonwhites. It does concern me. I wish they would at least balance for gender. I think race/ethnicity would be harder to take into account, since it's not always obvious, people could lie, etc. But ideally I would prefer a mix. [ Reply | More
