Long Beach is ok, not the best, but also close to a lot of other things. Coney Island, Rockaway Park, Bel Harbor, Orchard Beach. [ Reply | More

Brighton Beach (close to Coney), russian places right on the boardwalk. Fast ferry (or drive) to Sandy Hook in NJ, there's a beach bar/restaurant overlooking the beach, and nice flat bike paths. [ Reply | More

Love Jacob Riis on Far Rockaway -- big beach, boardwalk for walking, playgrounds; never too crowded. On your way back stop at Nick's Lobster on the very end of Flatbush, nr Toys R Us. Reminds me of a New England fish joint, right on the water (inlet). [ Reply | More
