I could use some reassurance right now. DH is out of town until August and I just got back from the dr with our dd. I took her in because her elbow had swelled up during the day, was hot to the touch and red. The dr saw a bite, but was disturbed by the fluid, so he took a sample to test (which was awful for dd,) and prescribed amoxocillan. She isn't running a fever. Does anyone else have experience with something like this? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Well, if it is some sort of infection, amoxocillin will fight it. It's possible the doctor suspected lyme disease, and that's the antibiotic the prescribe (btdt but DC had a tick on leg). It must be hard to have DD ill without your DH home, good luck. [ Reply | More ]

They did ask if we'd been out of the country. Maybe that was what he was thinking. But would lyme disease be localized to one spot like that? Anyway, we'll have to wait for the test results to make sure the fluid isn't a drug-resistant infection. That sort of scared me, too. [ Reply | More ]
